Preparing for EMPIR Energy 2016 Call - Networking Meeting

The European Metrology Programme for Research and Innovation (EMPIR) will launch a call for Joint Research Projects (JRPs) in 2016 on the topic of Energy. The call will advance fundamental and applied measurement science on topics related to all energy sources and along the whole energy supply chain including its generation, conversion, transportation, storage and consumption.

On Monday 30 November 2015, a free one-day partnering event in preparation for the 2016 EMPIR Energy Call is being co-organised by the EURAMET Task Group for Energy and the Centre for Carbon Measurement at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL, UK). The event aims to bring together a wide range of European partners from the metrology, research, academic and industrial communities to enable discussions, build consortia and set priorities for future Potential Research Topics (PRTs) ahead of the call. The day will feature keynote addresses from industry and strategic players, followed by focused breakout sessions to enable networking and cross-collaboration.

“The aim of this day is to find themes in energy research where metrology can make a significant, crucial contribution. We hope that the topics identified during this meeting will form the basis of a series of PRTs for the 2016 EMPIR Energy Call, to be further developed within the different EURAMET Technical Committees,” explains Gert Rietveld (VSL, Netherlands). In his role as Convenor of EURAMET’s Task Group for Energy he will chair the event. “I would especially like to encourage stakeholders to attend, since their input will be crucial for ensuring that the PRTs proposed for the EMPIR 2016 Energy Call align with their needs.”

Registration for the networking meeting is now open. As places are limited, early registration is advised.

More details and a full programme of the event will be available closer to the date.
